3 Types of Senior Housing

There are actually many different types of senior housing, but we are just going to cover 3 of the most popular options: apartments, condominiums, and manufactured homes.

1. Senior Apartments

Many seniors really enjoy living in large apartment houses with other seniors. It is a great option for older singles that do not need as much space. However, couples can be quite comfortable in apartments as well.

Pros: closer to neighbors, easier to get around in smaller spaces, usually considered the least expensive option

Cons: Some apartments have stairs, not enough space to invite family, lack of outdoor space

2. Senior Condominiums

Condominiums offer a larger amount of space. It is a great option for older couples. Also, it is much easier to welcome visitors into your home. It is important to note that many condominiums have stairs, so if you are beginning to struggle with mobility, this may not be the best option.

Pros: more space, feels more like a house, more outdoor space as well

Cons: May have stairs, may be more difficult to navigate through rooms, more expensive than the other options

3. Senior Manufactured Homes

We feel that manufactured homes are the best option for most seniors. They are convenient for their needs and offer the perfect amount of space. Since manufactured homes are always 1 story, you never need to worry about dealing with stairs.

Pros: Affordable, plenty of space, close to neighbors, lots of outdoor space

Cons: None
